Introduction

The covid-19 pandemic arrived on KÉK's 15th birthday, and not only the celebration, but most community events had to be suspended for two years. In 2022 we tried to make up for the missed occasions, and with 77 events, our organization has closed its busiest year so far. In 2022, we were finally able to involve members of the architectural profession in the contextualization of the 15-year history of KÉK, thus concluding our unfinished birthday season. We realized the 14th Budapest Architecture Film Festival, as well as Pecha Kucha Nights, the Trust Your Architect! and the Leltár discussion series. We were once again able to host foreign professionals from the Netherlands to Bulgaria; our community garden was again full of life, and children came to the ArchiKids festival. We expanded the Budapest100 festival in the Buda Castle District with a professional conference and a day of urban walks. Outside Budapest, we worked on the Tájtéka and the DANUrB+ projects. With the latter we also worked in Baja, Dunaújváros, Szob, Esztergom and Ráckeve, as well as various towns abroad, and then organized an exemplary international closing conference. In the meantime, we aimed to professionally promote important topics to the wider public, so the central theme of the spring and early summer programs was the relationship between architecture and memory, the built heritage and its functional or cityscape transformation. In addition to the Budapest100 conference, the International Architecture Model Festival and the Ráday Memorial Conference also revolved around this complex and current topic. In 2022, we made up for many of our community events postponed during covid, and not only in terms of quantity and number of visitors, but also in terms of professional content, the development of new formats, and the building of international networks. KÉK was able to stand as a mature professional NGO, proving that we are the most viable and serious organization of its kind in the region.
